Today it has finally cooled down enough for me to wear my favorite Anna Sui dress you may remember from a ways back. The fun touch to update the look are these badass earrings made from recycled aluminum can pieces! The earrings are new in our shop at CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles. They come in two different sizes one with a single circle as well as circle drop-down, dangly earring style.
These earrings are very exciting because that means the holidays are coming and we are making Reinbeers!!! Our Reinbeer ornaments have proven to be quite popular over the years and they're always something that symbolize for us that the holidays are on the move. This year is the first year we're offering these earrings which are made from the scrap aluminum can pieces left over from the Reinbeer ornaments.
Above is an Instagram picture I shot of the texture of the can pieces while making the earrings.
Today the Space Shuttle Endeavour begins its slow journey on land to the LA Museum. (this shot was when it landed in LA a few weeks back) The shuttle being on route to its new permanent home is a massive feat for the city because it is HUGE! It will make the traffic here in LA crazy, but it will make for a great site if you want to check it out before it gets to it's final destination of the LA Museum. For the news story and further details there is a full post here.
Here are some details on the route it is taking and more details on road closures:
Closed from 10/12/12 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Gypsy is upset she will miss the shuttle "parade"...
I really wish I could go watch the shuttle and take some analogue pictures - I finally got my MAJOR order of film in and I stocked up on a ton of black & white film that would be great to shoot the shuttle with. For a look at my adventures going back to film check out some of my shots here.
I have escaped my studio and left it in complete chaos! Oh no!!!!
Good thing I keep a tidy workspace at CRAFTED ;) I can escape my mess and get to work! Kevin is having his Birthday next Tuesday on October 16, however I think we might start celebrating early tomorrow with a barbecue with friends after the fun dies down at CRAFTED. If If you are still looking for weekend plans there's lots of fun tomorrow at CRAFTED! There is an event featuring Marissa Lynch where she will demo making upcycled T-shirt totes and host a book signing. More details on the event and project here.
Also, I definitely suggest if you're looking for movie to go to this weekend to go see Looper. Even if sci-fi isn't your thing this movie is an action-packed roller coaster filled with adventure. A fine example of a movie both Kevin and I rather enjoyed & I strongly recommend seeing that movie if you are interested.
TAFN, Hope you have a stellar weekend!!!
XOXO, KC

What I Wore: Friday 9/28/12
hey, hey, HEY! KC here :)
This weekend we are having a Locals Weekend at CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles where there is a TON of awesome things going on at CRAFTED all weekend long!!!
You'll never guess what I did this week... I got a crazy new hair cut! Alisa, if you are reading this - you will absolutely hate/ love my new do:
SURPRISE!!! I have a huge chunk missing now :) It isn't shaved but trimmed to look like I have an undershave. I can wear my hair so it is asymmetrical all to one side OR wear it so it looks similar to my regular haircuts. I am pretty obsessed with it right now. I have wanted to do this to my hair for quite some time now and I can't wait to see all the different ways I can style it.
Here I am wearing an Eva Franco dress I purchased at last springs Unique LA. It was the perfect dress to wear out for Kevin and I's anniversary last night.

I am off to enjoy the event and celebrate San Pedro! Be safe this Carmagedon 2 weekend - if you decide to come south to stay away from the construction you know where to find us ;)

What I Wore: Friday / Instagram Friday! 9/21/12
WOWZAS!!! It's Friday already?!?
I scored this sweet shirt from Craftsy while at the Craftcation Conference. Craftsy is a site for online craft classes from the best instructors from around the world. I have had the pleasure to meet a handful of the instructors while at Craftcation but haven't had the opportunity to take a class for myself yet. I would really love to try out one of the crochet classes since that is one crafting technique I am absolutely horrid at. The goodies like this shirt are reason enough to hit up the conference, but seriously shirts aside - the conference is a super great place to learn from, and with amazing craft business leaders. Don't miss the fun, check out the details and get your tickets here.
I haven't taken a ton of pictures on my Instagram this week but here are the highlights-
Sharon and I traveled down to The OC Mart Mix on Monday to see some of our CRAFTED Friends and their pop-up shop:
My kitty stopped tearing up the house long enough to cuddle with Kevin...
I celebrated National Cheeseburger Day on Tuesday at Father's Office:
The big excitement for the week is yesterday Kevin and I had a late breakfast at our favorite spot in Culver City and Adam Sandler was a table over!! No pictures because I didn't want to be a total creeper - but I still always geek out over celebrities. Definitely love the perks of living in a city with Celeb spotting ;)
We might be a bit late to our store at CRAFTED tomorrow thanks to a massive yard sale event in Santa Monica - After the sale, if you are free this weekend you should come down to #A200 at CRAFTED and say hi!
XOXO, KC

What I Wore: Friday / Instagram Friday! 9/14/12
Hi'ya Friends!
Here is the cute outfit I wore toady :) You may remember it from this 2nd-hand shopping excursion post here.
Here are the Instagram photos I liked this week:
I fell in love with this ring last weekend at CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles. Wanna see more about the designer as well as the rings on my right hand, check out this jewelry post here.
What's even yummier than the picture of these jellies by Paradise Preserves?!? Hearing about the farmers these ladies get their delicious produce from. More details on their mission to maintain the 'locavore' ideal in regards to food cultivation and consumption found here.
We got some new additions both at home and in the shop :) I am super excited to figure out how to put our new furniture to best use. Already I feel a big difference at home with this new "Atomic" couch. Best part of this eco-concious couch - it is handmade in North Carolina. Gotta love my great home state and their amazing roots in traditional furniture making. Double Bonus: Way more comfortable than the one we donated to the Salvation Army!
Some new displays are housing items at the Port now :) The picture above was taken of 1 of 3 shelves that will be at the entrance way of our shop this past Wednesday. No there is more additions from the picture shown.... we have 2 shelves in and one more to come tomorrow. Come down to CRAFTED to check it out, or follow us on Twitter and Instagram @makeshoplive to see us nest in our booth.

What does one get after 3 Double Dates and some cases of beer you might ask?
Day 1:
Day 2:
Day 3:
We had a blast going over to our pals Matt & Leah's apartment to build the Millennium Falcon kit. I really love playing with the Legos! This my first time playing with the kits and while they are a bit pricey they are totally worth it.
Speaking of toys -

Also, this weekend you can get a first look at artist Joyce Dallal, and her exhibit Receptacle at CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles. Her work looks pretty amazing online but its even better in person!
Whatever you end up doing, we hope you have a super weekend!!!!

What I Wore: Friday / Instagram Friday! 9/7/12
Hi Guys!
Last night I jumped over to CAFAM for their monthly Etsy Craft Night and made some Party Balls. Mark Montano led the project and I got some good Instagram pictures of the fun.
Here is a break down of the project:
I am always on the hunt for projects to utilize magazines and this project is a mind-blowing way to use them up! I just wish I had tried this project out before making the Etsy party decor. We could have made a ton of these in a jiffy :)
Here is a photo visual breakdown of the steps listed above:
For more pictures and updates check us out @makeshoplive on Twitter and Instagram. Hope you have a stunning weekend!!!

What I Wore: Friday / Instagram Friday! 8/31/12
Can you believe today is the last day of August?!?
Here is my last hurrah outfit for August - It is a black jersey dress paired with a vintage necklace and a new chiffon top/ vest that I found this week when Kevin and I had a date in Santa Monica at the Promenade. I am sorry to see you go August, but I am very excited for the long weekend this weekend! Kevin has something up his sleeve for Monday that I am anxious to figure out what's in store for us. I promise a full report will follow the fun ;)
Also, I totally forgot to post this awesome coloring sheet from at our Etsy Party at CRAFTED last week:
Well, I think that wraps it up. Hope you have a super weekend!!!

Thanks again Steph for all your hard work! *If you missed the posts on the Etsy Party and have no idea what I am talking about, check out the wrap up from the party here.

Hi there!!! I am away from CRAFTED today. We are able to have some closed days, even though I never want to be closed... but alas, I needed to work on some products at home today. Sorry we missed the fun today, but we will be having some birthday fun tomorrow so come down to the Port tomorrow and celebrate my birthday with me :)
Since I have a behind the scenes day I thought I could go comfy casual in one of my favorite vintage tee and the best high-wasted skirt.
