How-To's Day: Paper Favor Wrappers

For today's How-to's day tutorial I will be showing off a quick way to make surprise favors or small treats hiding in a paper wrapper.

This is fun and exciting way to package miscellaneous small items in a sunrise grab bag. It can be used as a thank you to your Etsy customers, a themed surprise for a wedding or party, or just a great way to give-a-way small items.  This is a great project for upcycling old paper or starched/ stiff fabric and if you have some lying around now is the time to try this out.

For the larger size I used a piece of paper that was 8" X 8"

and the smaller size is 4" X 4"

First step is to glue the paper into a tube.  Once you have the tube glued and it is dry you can stitch the end to get it ready to fill with treasures. "Folding" the edge so that the glued seam is in the middle, straight stitch across the bottom to hold the tube shut.  Now you can fill it with whatever trinkets and fun things that fit inside :)
To finish the paper tube and close everything up you "twist" the end of the tube to close it perpendicular from the first closure.  By stitching the end the opposite way the tube will have a 3-D shape that cradles the objects inside giving it some form of its own rather than a flat package.

Here is a round-up of some other packaging ideas that may also be up your alley for gifting and favors. Enjoy!

How-To's Day: Make Small Enclosure Envelopes

Did you get an awesome calender for Christmas? I love page-a-day calenders of all different themes but it is always so sad when they are done!  Maybe you still have your 2010 Calender set aside because you can't part with it, or you just have some small scraps of paper that you'd like to utilize- Well here is a great project for you!

Here are the supplies you need:
Scrap Paper (5.25" x 5.25"), Envelope Template, Pen or Pencil, Scissors & Glue Stick.
*optional Paper Backed Tape for sealing*

Here is the envelope template I use.  I found an envelope I liked and traced around it on a scrap piece of cardboard box:

(Make sure for this smaller size that fits a business card the template is just under 5" wide and just over 5" long.)

How- To: Make Small Enclosure Envelopes

Step 1: Trace around envelope template

Step 2: Cut out paper where you traced the lines.

Step 3: Fold side flaps to the center.

Step 4: Fold up bottom and top flaps.
Step 5: Use glue stick to glue side flaps secure.
Step 6: Glue bottom flap up to center.

Step 7: OPTIONAL use a small strip of paper backed double-sided tape leaving one side of the paper on until your ready to secure the envelope shut.

You'll be hooked on making these once you test them out!!! They will fit a business card or equivalent size enclosure card and make a fun decorative way to utilize every last paper scrap!

Time to get back to work-
XOXO,

Wedding Wednesday- Cake Pops

Today I thought I would shoot off a quick re-post of a must on my list of things to try. I am really intrigued by making Cake Pops, and I found these posts that make me really want to jump on the dessert bandwagon. Do you think I am a culinary master enough to try and substitute vegan stuff in and achieve this? No. So I think I will look over it and salivate, and wait for a chance to make these for more than just Kevin and I.

Cake Pops are the new cupcake for the alternative to a full wedding cake these days, and how can you not love them?!?! The beauty of having the just the right amount of cake without a ton of frosting is definitely appetite inspiring. All the different appealing varieties and designs make them that much more desirable. Best part, they can double as take-away favors!
