Wedding Wednesday- Photo Save The Date/ Inspiration

First post for Wedding Wednesday :)

I just found out that Sonja and Jonathan of UNIQUE LA got engaged today too! Love is in the air and I am super excited for wedding season.  I pulled out all of my books I kept for reference and I picked up the newest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings yesterday.  I have a huge obsession with magazines and now having a reason to look threw all the hundreds of bridal magazines is so rewarding.

I am going to post items that inspire me or fun ideas and themes for all of the weddings I am working with to refer back to.

Yesterday I found this super fun Save the Date that took inspiration from old school View Masters.  I think there is still some more that this idea could be pushed further, lets see what the bride thinks.

You can scoot the wheel and see a picture of the couple, the Bride and Grooms names, and the date/ place when you move the wheel.

ALSO, A DIY Bride Must Have-
One of my new addition to my reference section is The Paper Bride by Esther K. Smith.  It is a really awesome book especially for the paper enthusiast!  I will be testing out a bunch of the projects in that book and I wanted to give everyone a heads up in case they want to look for a copy to refer to.

Well, more to come soon!
XOXO,
KC

NEW Year- NEW Things on the Horizon

Hi everyone!  Happy New Year!!!

Kevin and I are so excited for 2011, and we are planing and hoping for some great things to come.  We just got back from a Winter weekend adventure and I feel recharged and energized!

I got the the greatest news that 2 of my best friends got engaged on New Year's Eve!!! Not only do I feel responsible for them meeting, but I would like to think this desperate plea via twitter helped too:
Dear Friends,
Would someone please get married already!!!
I would really love to make decorations/ get a jump into weddings :)

(This picture of Paul and Alessandra was taken back when Kevin and I were in NYC at New Year's 2008)

Now I have my wish!!! I am super excited that on top of our new projects for spring I can start researching and developing some great wedding ideas that goes along with our mission.  Starting this week we will start up a Wedding Wednesdays section with tips and inspiration for the Eco + DIY Bride.

Friday Night Lights- Inspiration and Divine Plans

Today is the 3 week mark after shoulder surgery and I am super sore today...

I have always felt that "Everything happens for a reason." and that "God has a divine plan and reason for everything." BUT, sometimes an example, a story, a sermon, an experience helps you to level out and grasp the whole concept of why all situations good & bad make an  impact on your life.

Inspirational Quotes and Favorite Phrases

As I am recovering from my shoulder surgery (which, went well) I will be posting Inspirational Quotes and Favorite Phrases.  Seems like they resonate in me when I need a boost threw any situation...

Today is day one of my new journey, and I thought my Grandma did a great job with telling me this one on our last phone call-

"We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey."

What inspires our supplies and process-

I get the question of what inspires our supplies and process a lot.  Sometimes it is the first response to different materials.  Others it is the end use and what can obtain it best.  Here is a highlight into the "Behind the Scenes"...

We take the "raw" element of different types of recyclables and process everything down into "supplies".  After brainstorming on theme or end-use around some of the supplies I come up with a jumping-off point.  Sometimes I just tinker around with the supplies to get the function or technique and the end use doesn't fit the construction.  Sometimes the sample sheds light on a new technique or "textile".  Ever since college process has been my thing.  I like the process of multiple techniques and materials blending into an end product.

OK Go is making me Thoughtful...

So I have posted the pictures in the following entry- Check them out, this thought will be better illustrated in my rambling illustrations...

So, we go to the Video Release Party that LACMA advertised to their Members via e-mail. You don't have to be a member to go, but it wasn't widely publicized. We were there early and while waiting was horrible in heels, it helped me get some good pictures since I am still a skittish photographer. We took pictures, ate overpriced well needed food, and soaked up the experience.
